Seven people died in crashes over the Labor Day weekend across Missouri compared to 18 in 2020.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the preliminary statistics for the holiday weekend from 6 p.m. Friday, through 11:59 p.m. Monday in a release Tuesday.

Troopers investigated 351 crashes with 103 injuries over the weekend, an increase of 73 compared to last year. However, 37 fewer injuries were reported this year.

Troopers also investigated 108 DWI cases and arrested 71 people for drugs, according to the release.

The patrol's Troop F, which covers much of Mid-Missouri, was called to just one fatal crash, which happened Saturday night on Interstate 70 in Callaway County and killed a Detriot woman.
