Leaders discuss walkway plan in Jefferson City

Jefferson City leaders Tuesday are moving forward on building “livable streets.”

A public meeting was held on ways to increase biking and walking around the capital city.

Officials have been working with the public to develop new plans. Tuesday’s meeting let people give their input on the project.

The city’s senior transportation planner said it would like to use the new walkways to connect certain communities.

“We’re not trying to replicate what they’ve done. We’re just trying to take a look at it from a higher level. Perhaps connecting different communities together, connecting the trails together, um, and policies and procedures to help more people to get out there walking and biking,” said Sonny Sanders.

City leaders will continue to meet with the public as they move forward with the walkway project.
