Tracking showers & storms returning by Friday morning

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and mild with lows in the mid-60s. Showers and storms possible before sunrise.

TOMORROW: Scattered showers and storms early, followed by a break during the day. Highs reach the upper 70s. Storms return late Friday night and bring heavy downpours into Saturday.

EXTENDED: Cloud cover has started to filter back in ahead of our next system that will bring showers and thunderstorms to the area overnight into tomorrow morning. This first round could produce some strong storms across far northwest/western MO overnight, but they should start losing some steam by the morning. These storms look to diminish by late morning or midday, giving us a bit of a break. We could see a few spotty showers or storms re-develop by early evening, but more widespread rain holds off until late Friday night through late morning Saturday as low level wind ramp up across the region. Showers and storms will slowly work south as a cold front crawls across Mid-MO through Saturday afternoon. The best shot of rain after midday on Saturday will be south of I-70, and eventually out of the area by late afternoon/early evening. Rain amounts between the 2 days are expected to be highest west of Highway 63, between 1-2". Clouds and rain will keep temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80 Saturday. Sunday is looking gorgeous with highs in the lower 80s and low humidity. Monday is a bit warmer as winds start to increase from the south/southwest with highs in the upper 80s. Tuesday gets into the lower 90s, but the heat is short lived as a dry cold front comes through on Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing us back into the lower 80s with a mostly dry week ahead.
