Man drowns at Lake of the Ozarks after jumping off cliff

A man drowned at the Lake of the Ozarks after jumping off a cliff Saturday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol incident report, 41-year-old Thomas Painter from Bosworth, Missouri, jumped off a cliff approximately 125 feet in the air. Painter did not come up once he hit the water.

MSHP ruled the incident as a drowning along the 64.5 mile mark of the lake's main channel.

Painter was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

This is Troop F's 5th drowning in August and 11th in 2021.
