Boone Co. commissioner not seeking re-election

A Boone County official with more than two decades of service is not seeking re-election. Southern district commissioner Karen Miller said after 24 years in county government, it’s time to move on.

Miller said she wants to spend more time with her family and not feel like she’s neglecting county operations, but hopes younger residents will take interest in the position.

“It’s time to turn over the reigns to a new generation. I’m very hopeful that young people step up and get involved in their government because it’s critically important to our day to day lives,” said Miller.

Commissioner Miller said she will continue to be a part of the community.

Miller’s term ends in a little over a year.
