Heat continues despite limited storm chances
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear with lows in the mid-70s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the upper 90s. Heat index in the 103-105 degree range. A few showers and thunderstorms are possible by late afternoon, but will dissipate with sunset.
EXTENDED: A few showers and storms are possible this afternoon thanks to a weak boundary left over from storms that tracked to our north Tuesday night. A couple storms could be strong with the amount of instability present today, with brief gusty winds and heavy rain. As high pressure slowly tries to work east, another disturbance cloud slide across the region on Thursday. That could trigger a few showers or storms, especially early in the day. Heat continues, however, with highs in the mid-upper 90s and the heat index between 100-105. The end of the week into the weekend is looking dry, but heat and humidity stick around with temperatures in the lower 90s and a heat index in the upper 90s. We'll finally be tracking a changing pattern by the end of the weekend as a cold front tries to push in from the north Sunday night into Monday. The front looks to stall out across Mid-Missouri for the first half of the week, keeping rain chances around along with more seasonable temperatures as highs reach the upper 80s.
