Columbia fire crews extinguish house fire on Worley Street

Columbia fire crews battled a fire at a home on Worley Street Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 3200 block of Worley Street just before 1 Tuesday.

At least ten units from two different agencies were on the scene.

Part of the street was blocked off in the area while crews worked on the fire.

Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief Stephen Potter said a caller reported seeing a fire coming from the garage up the left side of the building.

Crew arrived on the scene to find with heavy smoke showing from the garage.

Fire crews said they used a fire hose and conducted an offensive fire attack. The fire was extinguished within minutes of arrival.

Potter said two people were inside the building when the fire broke out. He said both people got out safely.

This fire is still under investigation and there has been no damage estimate as of Tuesday evening.
