CPD respond to suicidal man with gun

Columbia police respond to reports of a suicidal man with a gun. It happened Sunday around 7:00 p.m. in the 5400 block of Gem Stone Drive.

Bryana Larimer, public information officer for CPD, said they were hearing reports that an armed man had threatened to harm his neighbors.

Later reports indicated the man might be near Rock Quarry and Steamboat Lane. Police showed up to the area and set up a perimeter. ABC 17 News crews were on the scene of this incident and saw officers, with guns out, walking into the neighborhood.

After about 30 minutes on the scene, police received another report that officers were initially in the correct neighborhood and went back to the 5400 block of Gem Stone Drive.

Larimer said after talking to the man, police determined the man posed no threat and pulled back from the area. The man was not arrested.
