Cool start, warm end to MU Homecoming weekend

Temperatures are expected to fluctuate for homecoming weekend at the University of Missouri, but we’ll remain dry across Mid-Missouri and Columbia through the weekend.

A strong cold front will move through Thursday night into Friday, ushering in cool northerly winds for Friday.

Temperatures on Friday afternoon are expected to top out in the upper 60s, and cool into the upper 50s to near 60 by early Friday evening for Greek house decorations on the MU campus.

Saturday’s homecoming parade through the heart of Columbia will start out cool, with temperatures in the low 50s and mostly sunny skies in the morning.

An upper-level ridge begins to approach Missouri from the west Saturday afternoon, increasing temperatures a few degrees above average into the low and mid-70s for afternoon tailgating.

By kickoff at Faurot Field at 6:30 p.m., temperatures fall into the mid-60s with mostly clear skies and light winds.

For those in the area on Sunday, it will be an even warmer day with temperatures soaring to near 80 by late afternoon.
