Warmer temperatures and rain chances
Changes are on the way as a wave of low pressure aloft moves in from the northwest, sending a cold front through Mid-Missouri Thursday. Warm air will move in ahead of this system Wednesday and Thursday followed by a brief cool-down Friday behind the cold front. The upper wave is shallow and will move to the east quickly, taking the cooler air with it. This will allow warmer air to move back in this weekend and early next week.
It looks like we’ll have enough moisture and lift to produce showers and t-storms ahead of the cold front Thursday. Severe storms are not expected since wind shear and instability are fairly low. Also, the showers will be hit and miss so some areas could be missed by the rain. Rain chances increase Thursday afternoon through evening, ending by early morning Friday as the front quickly moves east.
