Above Average Temperatures Make A Comeback Next Week.
Mid-Missouri has been off to a cool start for these first few days of October. While our average temperature for this time of year is 72 degrees, we saw temperatures only reach the 60s for October 1st-3rd, ranging from five to eight degrees below average. This cool down was due to a Canadian air mass that filtered into our region on the back of an upper-level trough.
Starting early next week, an upper-level ridge will be shifting eastward into our area. As the axis slides off to our east, we will see a return of southerly flow. This will warm us back up to average by early next work week and gradually take us to above average levels by midweek. On Wednesday, which is expected to be the warmest day of the week, several areas will be reaching the 80-degree mark for daytime highs.
