Maries Co. SWAT serves search warrant for drugs

Four people are facing possible charges after members of the Maries County Sheriff’s SWAT team served a search warrant late Tuesday night.

The search happened around 9:30 p.m. in the 20,000 block of County Road 309 in Belle, Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said. Here’s a link to Sheriff Heitman’s video he shared with ABC 17 News:

Authorities found a large amount of methamphetamine and items related to distribution. They also found other drug paraphernalia and a pistol.

“We’ve been investigating this residence for you know several months now,” Heitman said. “And it’s been a high traffic area in the county. We received a lot of complaints that there was illegal activity taking place in this neighborhood, and we finally got it stopped.”

They arrested Misty Glenn, 27, and Colin Maxey, 24, both of Belle, for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. According to the Sheriff’s Department both posted a $42,500 bond and were released.

Deputies also arrested Brittnay Herron, 26, of Belle, and Steven Vinson, 19, of Bland for unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. Both Herron and Vinson posted their set bonds and were released.

The sheriff’s office is testing the handgun found with Maxey too see if it was used in another crime. If it tests positive, Maxey could face more charges, Heitman said.

Both Maxey and Glenn are currently on probation. Herron was charged three months ago with similar drug charges.

“You know that part of the job’s really frustrating when you see the revolving door,” Heitman said. “Unfortunately it takes two or three times before they go to prison on drug-related charges just cause the prisons are so full.”
