University of Missouri system leaders start Show-Me Value tour
Wednesday morning MU Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin and MU President Tim Wolfekicked off the third year of the Show-Me Value Tour in Ashland.
The tour encourages young students to go to a four year college or university after high school.
After kicking off the tour in Ashland, Wolfe spoke to students from Lange and Oakland Middle School in Columbia. There, he delivered presentations to students about the benefits of earning a college degree.
Wolfe says they’re trying to break the cycle of poverty that causes children to avoid a college education because of a lack of money.
The tour started in 2013, when education leaders discovered a growing national feeling that the value of a college degree is declining and that young people should be encouraged to find alternatives to obtaining a four-year college degree.
