Above Average Temperatures Expected to Continue Into October
As we close in on the fall season that officially begins this Wednesday, temperatures are expected to warm to levels that are more typical of summer than autumn. According to the Climate Prediction Center’s temperature outlook for the first week of October, Mid-Missouri won’t see fall-like temperatures anytime soon.
The Climate Prediction Center has stated that the entire state of Missouri has a 60% probability of seeing above average temperatures to kick off the month of October. This is following a September consisting of relatively warmer temperatures, where the average temperature was about 6 degrees above normal.
When will the cooler weather move in? The temperature outlook for the entire month of October places the eastern half of Missouri under a 30% chance of seeing above average temperatures. The western portion of the state, on the other hand, has an equal chance of seeing above, normal, or below average temperatures. In general, it appears as though summer is not going to surrender to the fall season for some time.
