Authorities still searching for man suspected of setting multiple fires in Cooper County

Authorities are still searching for a suspect who is believed to be setting fires in Cooper County Saturday afternoon.

Crews were working two structure fires and a grass fire right just outside Boonville city limits Saturday.

The Cooper County Sheriff’s Office says they can’t confirm whether the suspect is connected to all three fires.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol had a helicopter and is assisting the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department in the search. Multiple K-9 Units were also on scene.

Authorities say the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his thirties, about 5’4″ tall and between 140 and 150 pounds.

He was last seen in a white T-shirt and blue pants. He was seen carrying a cloth or canvas backpack.
