No Connor Bazelak at Mizzou practice; backups practice with first team

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou's starting quarterback, Connor Bazelak, did not practice on Thursday due to a "mild illness." As a result, the back up quarterbacks got reps with the first team offense.

Head coach Eli Drinkwitz said that the team did test the quarterback for COVID-19 to be safe, but added that Bazelak is vaccinated.

MU wide receiver Keke Chism said that on an off chance that Bazelak isn't available for a game in the upcoming season, it is good to get reps with the backups.

"You always have to have that emergency ready," he said. "Today was a good day for us. Hopefully we won't have that problem during the season, but if it does happen, we have to be able to adjust."
