First Few Days of Fall Bring Summer-like Tempeatures

After a cold front pushed its way through the Midwest on Friday, the showers and thunderstorms that ensued ahead of the front have been replaced by a quiet, cool weather pattern.

High pressure that followed the frontal boundary is currently anchored over northern Missouri and southeast Iowa. The current location of this high pressure system is allowing Missouri to receive a northeasterly return flow, which, in turn, is ushering in cooler and drier air.

As high pressure slowly slides to the east, the northeasterly flow will take on a more southerly component. As a result, temperatures will warm to above average just as the Fall season begins on Wednesday. Highs are expected to climb to the mid-80s by mid-week.

Although temperatures will be above normal, dew points will remain in the lower to mid-50s, making for drier and more comfortable conditions. The dry, rain-chance-free weather pattern is expected to continue through next work week.
