Mid-Missouri veterans receive care packages for 9/11 anniversary

Friday, the Missouri Community Service Commission donated household items and hygiene products to the Welcome Home veteran’s living program in Columbia.

“We wanted to do this in honor of 9/11 and make this donation to the Welcome Home group,” said Russ Unger, Missouri Community Service Commission Chairperson. “They do a lot of good work for the homeless veterans in the community and we thought it would be a good project to work with.”

The care packages included items such as socks, deodorant and non-perishable food items, which the non-profit program was running low on. Some monetary donations were also given to Welcome Home.
