The Lincoln University Board of Curators approved the wellness center project near the high school and the campus of Lincoln University Thursday.

The board spent most of Thursday morning discussing issues including the wellness project.

Jefferson City leaders already moved forward with the new multi-million dollar project Wednesday, before Lincoln University leaders discussed the multipurpose center Thursday morning.

At Wednesday night’s meeting, parks commissioners approved a memorandum of understanding. The agreement is between the city and Lincoln University, before the LU board met Thursday morning and approved the agreement.

Officials already decided on an architect in February to start designing the $10.5-12.5 million dollar project that will be built across from the high school. The project will be about 80,000 square feet and will be a multipurpose room for city use, and an athletic center for Lincoln University.
