WATCH: State teachers association discusses pandemic effects on education

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Many Mid-Missouri school districts begin the 2021-2022 school year next week.

Ahead of the Return to Learn, Todd Fuller, the director of marketing and communication for the Missouri State Teachers Association, sat down with ABC 17 News This Morning on Tuesday to discuss how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the learning environment.

According to MSTA's website, more than 47,000 educators are part of the organization. The statewide group is made up of local teachers associations in various Missouri school districts.

The Jefferson City School District, Boonville R-I, Blair Oaks R-II, and Father Tolton Catholic High School start classes on Monday.

Next Tuesday, Columbia Public Schools and Moberly Public Schools begin coursework, along with students at the University of Missouri.

Mexico and Fulton public schools have their first day on Wednesday, Aug. 25.
