President Joe Biden admitted the rapid fall of Afghanistan to Taliban extremists happened faster than his administration predicted during remarks Monday.
The address was the president's first public remarks since Afghanistan's capital, Kabul, fell to the Taliban over the weekend. The administration is sending thousands of U.S. troops to assist with evacuating Americans and others from the Kabul airport.
The Taliban swept through the country weeks ahead of a total American withdrawal.
