Brian Geier, a State Highway Patrol trooper, confirmed four people were air lifted to local hospitals after their boat crashed into the shore Friday night.

It happened around 11:30 in the Big Niangua Arm. Geier said at least three people were thrown from the boat with serious injuries.

All four of the boat’s passengers were from Iowa.

Steven Boland, 45, was driving the boat at the time of the crash. Geier said he was arrested for boating while intoxicated, but has not yet been charged.
