Jefferson City woman arrested for drugs, endangering child

A Jefferson City woman was arrested Wednesday for drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child after her toddler was found walking around the neighborhood carrying a knife.

25-year-old Laura Pultman was contacted by police after her one-year-old was found walking around unsupervised wearing only a diaper with a knife in her hand.

The boy was last seen an hour before Pultman noticed he was missing.

A similar incident happened about two weeks before and was not reported to police.

When police checked Pultman’s apartment, they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain sight.

They also found prescription pills without child safety devices that were in reach of the child.

Officers found 10 smoking devices that were also in the child’s reach.

Court documents said since her child has walked out of her home at least twice without Pultman noticing, she is a danger to the child.

Documents said, “despite the involvement of Children’s Division, Pultman has not taken additional steps to correct the problem since being made aware.”

She’s charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and endangering the welfare of a child.
