Hot weekend, rain possible on Labor Day
Hot and humid weather will continue for the holiday weekend thanks to upper level high pressure continuing to pump in Gulf moisture from the south.
High temperatures will reach the low 90s Friday through Sunday, with heat indices anywhere between 94-98 degrees all three days. Average high temperatures this time of year are in the low 80s.
On Sunday, we see a few more clouds by afternoon as a deep upper level wave of low pressure tracks a cold front to the west of us Sunday night.
Rain chances begin after midnight Sunday, lasting through Monday. A robust low-level jet could allow for higher rain totals in the northwestern part of the viewing area. Temperatures will be slightly cooler Monday afternoon, in the mid-upper 80s. Rain chances decrease slightly Monday night before picking up again early Tuesday morning.
Rain chances last through Wednesday, with cooler temperatures through the work week and high pressure settling in by Thursday.
