Man arrested in weekend Jefferson City arson case

The Jefferson City house fire ABC 17 News reported over the weekend has been ruled an arson.

The fire at 1207 East McCarty happened on Sunday morning, August 20th at 1:41, according to the Jefferson City Police Department. The house was destroyed.

JCPD says 31-year old James Stude, of Jefferson City, has been arrested and charged with first degree arson.

A joint investigation among the Jefferson City Police Department, Jefferson City Fire Department and Missouri State Fire Marshall’s Office determined the fire intentional.

According to investigators, the fire was started in the kitchen through the use of “ignitable liquid” and spread throughout the house, engulfing the home. During the course of controlling and eliminating the fire, one Jefferson City Fire Department firefighter was taken to the hospital for injuries.

Stude was taken to the Cole County Jail.
