Cole Co. asks property owners to address health concerns

Cole County is asking some property owners to address some health concerns after neighbors complained about a house on Scruggs Station Rd. in Jefferson City.

Untrimmed grass, weeds, garbage, and loose tires were among the complaints.

The health department considered the property a hazard.

A spokesman for the health department briefed the Cole County Commission Tuesday, saying some issues were dealt with, and others still need attention.

“Since they took new ownership last week, they have been cleaning the property. They do have the weeds cut down. There are still some solid waste issues on the property, but they have assured me that they will be getting that cleaned up as soon as possible to bring the property back onto the market,” said Mike Sapp with the Cole Co. Health Dept.

The property was recently sold to the current owners by the county for back taxes.
