One in custody after high-speed chase in Boone County

One person is in custody after a high-speed chase in Boone County.

Detective Tom O’Sullivan with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department tells ABC 17 News the chase started near Finger Lakes State Park on Highway 63.

O’Sullivan says authorities used spike strips to stop the vehicle near Rocky Fork Creek and Highway 63.

He says the suspect then drove into a hay field near Route VV, jumped out of his vehicle and ran off.

Authorities apparently used a K-9 unit to track the suspect down.

The driver is now in custody currently at the Boone County jail.

Jefferson City police have also been looking for Robert “Boe” Keating for larceny and vehicle theft charges.

JCPD said Keating was wanted in Kingdom City, Jeff City, Columbia, Hannibal and the Lake of the Ozarks for breaking windows out of cars and stealing purses and wallets.

Around three in the afternoon Thursday, Keating was seen breaking into the back window of a car. He stole a purse, two wallets, credit cards and cash.

He then withdrew $700 cash from one of the cards and bought alcohol.

Shortly after Boone County deputies spotted Keating in his vehicle near Peabody Road.

Keating faces three felony charges in Boone County and one felony charge in Cole County. The Cole County prosecutor said more charges could follow.
