Severe storms bring heavy rain, wind damage to Mid-Missouri Tuesday night
Severe storms rocked Mid-Missouri late Tuesday night, bringing heavy rain and even some wind damage to parts of the area.
Flash flood warnings were issued for parts of Morgan and Benton counties, where 3-4″ of rain was reported by Tuesday morning.
Damaging winds blew through Callaway County between 11:00 p.m. and midnight, bringing a 72 mph wind gust to Fulton.
Trees temporarily blocked State Route UU and power lines were downed on County Road 403 and 405 outside Fulton.
Wind damage was also reported along County Road 436 near New Bloomfield, where Doppler radar was indicating 60-65 mph winds at around 11:30 p.m.
A homeowner on CR 436 told ABC 17 News, “I heard trees popping and crackling, and I come out and everything was flying around out here. One of them went through a window upstairs, and one took a screen door window and stuff out, did a lot of damage to the roof, looks like a little bit of the shingles and stuff,” said Garry Hodges.
