Officers investigate shooting on Worley Street

Authorities are investigating reports of shots fired Friday night in Columbia.

Officers responded to the call on Worley Street just after 9 p.m.

Investigators tell ABC 17 News they found at least one shell casing at the scene. Police searched the sidewalks along Worley for several blocks, including the parking lot of Calvary Baptist Church.

Two neighbors tell ABC 17 News they saw a man running from Ridgeway Avenue. One neighbor said she saw the man fall at the corner nearly at the same time she heard a “pop.” He then stood up and ran across the street into the church parking lot. A woman in a red car with no headlights drove behind him. Both neighbors said the woman was yelling at him as he ran to the corner of Worley and Hirth Avenue.

Columbia police spoke to several people there to determine what happened. Officers did not say at the scene whether anyone was in custody Friday night.
