Woman arrested for packaged drugs near a Columbia school

Columbia police arrested a woman after finding packaged drugs in a hotel room near a school early Sunday morning.

Officers arrested Sonia Nixon, 38, just after 2:00 a.m. Police said it happened at the Americas Best Value Inn near the Our Lady of Lourdes Interparish School.

Officers found evidence of drug use and drugs packaged for sale in the room. Police arrested Nixon for drug sale near a school, distribution, endangering the welfare of a child, felony stealing and more.

Her bond is set for $50,000.
