Man arrested in teen’s shooting death over the weekend

Sedalia police confirm one man has been arrested for a weekend shooting that left one teenager dead.

Brian Young, 34, of Sedalia, told investigators he was being robbed at gunpoint before he fired once, hitting 16 year-old Andrew Meyers.

Meyers was found lying on the ground near a car with a gunshot wound around 10 p.m. Friday near West Cooper and South Missouri streets. He later died at the hospital.

Investigators think Meyers was shot inside a nearby house, where they found several drug trafficking items and illegal guns.

Young went to police Monday night to give a statement. He was then transferred to the Pettis County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
