Tracking a hot and stormy weekend

TODAY: Mostly sunny and hazy with highs in the low 90s. Heat index between 95-98.

TOMORROW: A front will creep into Mid-Missouri and could bring storms north of I-70 by Sunday morning. There may be a slight break in the late morning to early afternoon, but storms return again in full swing the rest of the day. A marginal severe risk is stretched across most of our area for Sunday, mainly for high winds and flooding concerns. Highs will stay very hot in the mid to low 90s.

EXTENDED: Storms do little to cool us down as southern air funnels back in for the workweek. This will put the heat index dangerously high, between 102 to 105 degrees on Monday and Tuesday, with an accompanying Weather Alert Day for both days. More disturbances will roll through next week and depending on timing, Wednesday could be another dangerously hot day. Closer to the weekend, we may manage to cool back to the upper 80s after the rain.
