Columbia mobile home residents still have to move out of park by October

A day after a proposed multi-million dollar hospital in Columbia is voted down, ABC 17 News looked into what the future holds for the site.

Back in March, residents of Ed’s and Sunset Mobile Home parks on the land were told they had until October to move out.

ABC 17 News tried calling Whirlwind Properties, but the number has been disconnected.

But ABC 17 News got a hold of the attorney for Whirlwind Properties, Ron Netemeyer. He said he doesn’t know the future of the land, but said it won’t be a mobile home park.

Residents have not been required to pay rent, trash or water and sewer fees for the remaining months since they were first notified March 30.

Netemeyer said poor roads and old water and sewer pipes would cost a lot of money to fix up. He said the mobile home park doesn’t generate enough money to make those upgrades.

As of now, residents still have until October 1 to move.
