Teen with autism still missing in central Missouri

The search continued Tuesday for a missing Mid-Missouri teen with autism.

One central Missouri boy was found Friday afternoon, but the other teen with autism remains missing more than two days after walking away from a home in St. James, over an hour southeast of Jefferson City.

The Phelps County Sheriff confirmed Johnathan Shay, 13, is autistic. He is 5’2″, 100 lbs., with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was wearing a gray shirt, dark-blue shorts and black tennis shoes.

Xavier Baylor, 11, was discovered safe near the Dry Fork Creek in St. James around 1:15 p.m. Friday.

Both boys were both seen in the 10000 block of County Road 3470 around 7:30 Thursday night. Investigators are asking people to be on the lookout in St. James and areas to the south.

Anybody with information about Shay is urged to call the emergency communications line, at (573) 308-1213.
