Dangerous heat Tuesday afternoon

The humidity will be high Tuesday as dew points remain in the low to mid 70s. Temperatures will start off in the upper 70s, climbing into the upper 80s by 10 AM and to near 90 by noon. Afternoon temperatures are expected to top off in the low to mid 90s.

The combination of the hot temperatures and humidity will make temperatures feel warmer to our bodies which is called the heat index. Afternoon heat indices are expected to reach near 105 Tuesday, creating a situation which heat illnesses could occur. Take extra precautions. If possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or late evening. Drink plenty of water and stay in an air-conditioned room as much as possible.
