One man arrested after being involved in a disturbance in the parking lot of Columbia Mall

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Around 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 1, Columbia Police were dispatched to the parking lot of the Columbia Mall for a disturbance of an adult male assaulting an adult female in the parking lot. 

Through further investigation, officers learned the male suspect attempted to run over the victim with a vehicle. The suspect continued assaulting the victim by grabbing her by the hair and dragging her into the car.  

The suspect vehicle was described as a silver SUV last seen traveling north on Stadium north of I-70. 

Shortly after 2 p.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Gus Ct. for a verbal altercation. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle from the prior disturbance at the Columbia Mall incident. 

Further investigation revealed 34-year old Joseph Jones of Columbia had assaulted an adult female victim at the Columbia Mall.

Jones was arrested for domestic assault in the first degree, armed criminal action, and second degree kidnapping.

He is being held at the Boone County Jail.
