JC councilman discusses adding more jobs to capital city
On Monday night, a bill for a $375,000 development agreement was introduced before the Jefferson City Council.
The agreement is with Continental Commercial Products, which plans to relocate to the former R.R. Donnelly site and employ 150 people by the end of the year.
Third ward city councilman Bob Scrivner said the company gets to keep the money to renovate the plant if they have a certain number of employees.
“There’s an 11 year lease, and during the term of the lease, they’ve agreed to maintain employment of 180 people, actually 150 by the end of the year, and another 30 by the end of next year,” said Scrivner.
Scrivner told ABC 17 News the average worker at Continental Commercial Products should earn about $33,000 per year.
