Nixon plans to veto education bill

Gov. Jay Nixon will veto Missouri House Bill 42 this Friday.

House Bill 42 is a major education bill up for approval.

David Wood, a Republican representative from Versailles, confirmed to ABC 17 News that governor will block the legislation.

The Missouri House passed the measure in May by a vote of 84-73.

Wood does not believe he cannot get the 109 votes in the Missouri House to override the governor’s veto in September.
