Ameren donates air conditioners to Mid-Missourians

Ameren Missouri are helping Mid-Missourians stay cool this summer.

ABC 17 News was at the Samaritan Center Thursday afternoon in Jefferson City when officials from the company handed out free air conditioners.

Fifty units were given to clients of the Samaritan center.

Ameren officials say the air conditioners are affordable so recipients can use their units through the hot summer months.

Executive Director for the Samaritan Center, Marylyn DeFeo says, “When it gets to be 102 and you don’t have air — you know, a fan will just toss that hot air around. So this will make a difference.

Applicants had to provide proof they had filed their federal income taxes to get a free air conditioner.
