Power restored after outages in western Boone County

Power is now restored after 1,800 customers experienced brief outages Monday Morning.

Boone Electric Cooperative tells ABC 17 News they received reports of power outages starting at 9:13 Monday morning.

It says crews from Central Electric Power Cooperative were working at its Huntsville sub station at the time of the outage.

Central Electric Power Cooperative is based in Jefferson City. Officials say it manages the power plant that sends power to various sub stations, which Boone Electric Cooperative runs its power lines from.

During testing Monday morning, officials say a switch opened up for unknown reasons, causing power outages to customers in western Boone County.

Boone Electric Cooperative says the crews on scene at the sub station were able to restore power within 15 minutes.

It saysCentral Electric Power Cooperative is investigating why the switch opened up and will likely determine a cause by the end of Monday.
