Two Mizzou athletes injured in car crash

Two University of Missouri athletes were injured in a car crash in Boone County Sunday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, it happened on Highway 63 just before 2 p.m.

Troopers said Mizzou Football defensive lineman Harold Brantley was driving on Highway 63 when his car went off the left side of the roadway. He then over corrected, slid off the right side of the road and struck a guard rail before the car overturned.

Maddie Stock, a Mizzou women’s basketball player, was also riding in the car.

Neither Brantley nor Stock were wearing seat belts, according to the report.

Harold was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries and Stock was transported for minor injuries.

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, Brantley was in serious condition and Stock had been released from the hospital.

UPDATE (6:02 p.m.): Mizzou football spokesperson Chad Moller releases a statement regarding Harold Brantley– “Harold was injured in a car accident this afternoon on Highway 63 south of town. He was taken from the scene to University Hospital and is being treated for injuries. I don’t have specifics yet but will certainly pass along what I can when it becomes available. We are hopeful that he will be ok.”
