Hot and humid weekend, severe storm chance

Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s both Saturday and Sunday with mostly sunny skies Saturday and a few more clouds Sunday. The humidity will make it feel hotter both days. The heat index is how it feels when combining the temperature and humidity. The heat index will be as high as 103 Saturday afternoon.

A cold front moving into northwestern Missouri Saturday afternoon will trigger storm formation in northern Missouri. These are forecast to head to the south, possibly affecting areas as far south as I-70 Saturday evening. There is a chance of damaging wind and large hail Saturday evening from 7pm to midnight as these storms move in. The highest threat of severe weather Saturday evening is along and north of HWY 24.

This front is expected to linger just north of I-70 during the day Sunday before heading back to the north. A few storms are possible mainly north of HWY 50 Sunday afternoon & evening due to the daytime heating and the presence of the weak front. Any storms that form will be capable of producing damaging wind and large hail. Please check back for updated information through the weekend.
