Tropical Depression Bill to bring heavy rain to Mid-Missouri

Heavy, steady rain is expected starting Thursday morning through early Saturday morning for most of Mid-Missouri as Tropical Depression Bill approaches from the southwest.

A Flash Flood Watch continues for most of Mid-Missouri along and east of Highway 63, including Columbia, Jefferson City, and the Lake of the Ozarks until 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Bill will slowly track through the area Friday, bringing the heaviest rain to areas south of Highway 50.

Rain totals through Saturday will range from 1″ to 2″ along and north of I-70, 2″-3″ along Highway 50, and 4″-5″ along and south of I-44.

The severe weather threat is minimal, but flood risk will be high through Saturday. A few isolated strong wind gusts are possible Thursday ahead of the main area of low pressure. There is also a low risk for a spin-up tornado on the northeast side of the low pressure system, so we will be keeping a close eye on that. There is a marginal risk of severe weather for all of Mid-Missouri.

We begin to dry out early Saturday, with a few scattered t-storms possible by late afternoon into the evening, and warmer temperatures as more sunshine filters in.
