Columbia man sentenced for having illegal firearm

A judge has sentenced a Columbia man to federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm.

39-year-old Victor McNeary has 11 prior felony convictions for robbery, armed criminal action, tampering, and attempted burglary.

These convictions make it illegal for him to have a gun.

However, in late 2011, and officer found a gun on him after he threatened security members of a Columbia club.

McNeary will spend 15 years in federal prison without parole.
