Highway patrol identifies man hit and killed on I-70

The Missouri Highway Patrol confirmed Neal R. Helton, 38, of Leadville, Colorado, was hit and killed by a semi-truck on Monday, June 8.

Both westbound lanes of I-70 were shutdown in Cooper County for about two hours following the crash.

Investigators say it happened just before 7 a.m. near the mile marker 111.

Officials told ABC 17 News Helton was in the roadway before getting hit. They spoke to the truck driver at the scene, but now investigators are trying to find out what happened and why Helton was in Missouri. His next of kin has been notified.
