Man arrested for deadly 2006 shooting in Camden Co.

A man charged with 1st degree murder in Camden County for a 2006 deadly shooting was arrested Tuesday
.

David Smith was arrested for the murder of Shawn Spencer.

Deputies responded to the report of a shooting on Silver Mountain Drive in Camdenton on April 1, 2006, which is where David Smith lived.

After talking to Smith and searching the house, deputies cleared the scene.

In April 2007, Shawn Spencer’s mother came to the sheriff’s office to report her son missing.

Shawn was listed as missing, but the case went cold.

In June 2011, detectives contacted an out of state witness who claimed to have seen Smith shoot Spencer on April 1, 2006.

Detectives got a search warrant for Smith’s home, but were unable to find any remains of Spencer there, yet again.

Another witness came forward last week, and detectives were able to get an arrest warrant for Smith.

He’s currently being held in the Camden County Adult Detention Facility on no bond.
