Two injured in Boone County shooting

Right now authorities are investigating after two people are injured in a shooting in Boone County.

It happened in the 700 block of Demaret Drive just after 8 p.m.

A detective with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said there was a type of gathering outside the home when two suspects described as black men with dreadlocks walked up and one man opened fire.

The shooter is described as a black man in his twenties wearing red shorts.

Detectives describe the suspect cars as a Blue Hyundai and a brown sedan.

Both people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Columbia police, the Boone County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were all on scene.

Law enforcement was seen searching a yard outside of the home where investigators said the two victims were seen laying in the grass before being taken to University Hospital.

A perimeter was taped off and Crime Scene Investigators were seen collecting evidence and taking pictures of the area.
