3rd victim dies in February shooting east of Columbia

The third victim has died in a late February shooting east of Columbia. Willie Mays, 44, was recovering in a healthcare facility before employees found him unresponsive around 4:30 Thursday afternoon.

He was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead.

Officials believe Cornelius C.J. Parker shot his three roommates February 28. Deborah Koontz, 53, and her brother, Donald Wilson, 51, were found shot to death in their home at 4426 Santa Anna Drive off Highway WW.

Mays was shot in the face but survived. Shortly afterward, deputies exchanged gunfire with Parker after his car spun out a few miles from the crime scene near East Broadway and Highway 63. Parker was killed.

An autopsy for Mays is scheduled on Friday.
