Nearly a dozen units respond to Columbia fire

Officials believe a fire started in the kitchen of a mobile home in north Columbia Wednesday afternoon. Nearly a dozen units responded to Colonial Village Trailer Park by Rangeline and Blue Ridge.

The blaze was first reported around 4:15 p.m. Firefighters did not find any flames, but they found heavy smoke coming from the kitchen.

There was no electricity hooked up to the structure and no one was there, but three dogs managed to escape.

The cause remains unknown.
