Child receives minor injuries after running into car on bicycle

A 7-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon with minor injuries after riding his bike into a moving car.

Emergency responders went to the intersection of East Dunklin and Walsh Street where witnesses said the boy was riding his bicycle north on Walsh St., moving very quickly.

Witnesses said the boy ran into the side of a car that was eastbound on East Dunklin at the intersection.

An officer at the scene determined the boy didn’t stop at the stop sign on Walsh before continuing onto Dunklin.

The child was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The driver of the car was not hurt, and the car had minor damage to the passenger side doors.
